Now recently, the Principal announced that we could apply to teach in MOE schools - It's not a bad idea. You never know what stories you might be writing from the experiences you gain in an MOE school.
In 1973 after I completed my NIE training, I was offered a place in ACS Br Road where i had done a short teaching practicum there. I declined the offer as I had decided to 'teach in a neighbourhood school to see what real teaching was like. That was a dumb thing to do as ACS was a elite boys school, a Christian school with hardly any discipline problems and being a Christian myself, wouldn't that be the ideal choice - a God-answered prayer thing?
So I was posted to a 'real' school. It was one where the students got into trouble with the police as often as with the school discipline board. It was a school where we had to deal with students who skipped school because they feared the drugs pushers and secret society gang members waiting for them at the school
