Personal Statement: A Career As A Pharmacist

"Patients you speak to today may be gone tomorrow.” At the age of seventeen that quote didn't mean a lot to me, but now working in a pharmacy for four years I see the meaning behind that quote. When I started working in a pharmacy as a cashier at the age of sixteen, I did not know what pharmacy really was until I became a pharmacy technician and I knew that I wanted a career in pharmacy. I have over four years of pharmacy experience, and within those four years I have come to learn that pharmacy is all about the caring for patient’s well being. Ever since I started working in a pharmacy I knew that I wanted to help patients and I knew I would be able to achieve this by becoming pharmacist. I’m currently a full time student and working as pharmacy technician at Nate’s pharmacy. As a pharmacy technician I assist the pharmacist in taking in phone calls from doctors, typing up prescriptions and filling them so they are ready to be checked by the pharmacist. Within three months I was promoted to a pharmacy technician where I truly learned the importance of pharmacy wzzzzhich was patients are the priority and their health comes first and as the community pharmacy it is our job to provide the best service possible.I was given a great opportunity to shadow my pharmacist when he was counseling patients.
