Influence plays a vital role in the management style of today’s leaders. Successful leaders should have the ability to influence the behavior of their employees without strong demands or irreversible force. Influence is the force that one person exerts on another person or group of people to create change. A great leader understands the process of balancing emotion and reasoning to make decisions that positively impact their employees, their customers, the organization, and themselves (Entrepreneur contributors, 2013).

Employees that are not afraid of making decisions but will take responsibility for those decision, good or bad (Fortunecom, 2016). Tony Hsieh, CEO of Zappos believes that customer service should be the most valuable tool of his company’s employees (tony hsieh , 2006).

Hiring is only part of the influence process. A successful leader must possess the same values he or she require from their employees. Tony Hsieh is the CEO of the online shoe and clothing shop Zappos. Tony developed the Zappos Family Core Values, a list of ten commandments that dictate the company’s brand, culture and business strategies ( tony hsieh , 2006). He acknowledges that it is simply not realistic to think that employees will discuss every decision with every person in the group
