It can be noted that the entire department operated as a cohesive team at the behest of the manager that stepped in. In addition, the leader appeared not to place herself over and above the other employees, such as one would notice in a rigid organization. The manager approached her co-workers with respect and removed the receptionist from the situation to privately ascertain what was going on. This was a clear case of using charismatic leadership skills, which enabled this manager to influence the employees into accepting her authority, which turned a potentially negative situation into a positive one. It was first displayed when the lawyer was frustrated and his limited time was wasted. Next, the lawyer will always remember the apparent incompetence which had been demonstrated in the health information management department. Finally, the store lost productivity and wasted employee resources by removing an employee off of an existing task to process the original request that never materialized. All these malfunctions would have been prevented by a prompt managerial leadership intervention by the manager that was supposed to be on shift.
