There are various ways we can do this. Firstly we can make sure all those involved in promoting physical activity throughout our lives understand the significance and importance of the concept of physical literacy, and appreciate its importance. Different ways in which children move about freely yet are safe, still need to be found. We need to increasing enthusiasm in schools for physical activity which then increases physical literacy. We can uses strategies to increase motivation and confidence, which then leads to the child becoming more active (UK Active, 2014). Steps need to be taken to encourage children in after school activities, for example every child should take part in at least two after school clubs. Teachers also need to challenge and prove to the children that the statement that physical activity is only for the physically talented is untrue. All teachers need to be aware of ways to include those with disabilities and those from different ethnic backgrounds. We can also improve the funding from the local government for facilities and personnel. Finally we need to make sure that people are not misunderstanding that to be physically literate means that a certain level of physical competence has been achieved, and instead that physical literacy is specific to the individual, who is on a personal journey (Whitehead,
