Children learn through a diversity of modalities (e.g., tactile, physical, visual), and teaching academic theories through the physical modality may please certain children’s kinesthetic intelligences. John F. Kennedy once said, "Intelligence and skill can only function at the peak of their capacity when the body is healthy and strong.” Therefore, when the subject matter constructs are related to each domain of learning, the depth of learning increases. Research has demonstrated that children engaged in daily athleticism show incredible motor fitness, academic performance, and attitude towards school versus their classmates. For example, in a study conducted by the CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention), they discovered that 11 out of 14 studies found “one or more positive associations between physical education and indicators of cognitive skills and attitudes, academic behavior, and/or academic achievement” (“Centers for Disease Control and Prevention”). Physical education also offers opportunities for self-expression, problem solving, and socialization. For instance, in elementary school, children acquire knowledge through the physical exploration of their environment (Butler). A child’s brain can develop more quickly and completely with the assistance of physical interaction in their environment.
