There are problems that can occur in a student’s allowance management like:

• Are high school students wise enough to manage their allowances well?

As a first timer, they need guidance and advice from adults or elders. High school students should be supervised in order to know if they spend it one something valuable or important and not something unbeneficial. Kids these days tend to spend their money on things that is not good for them. “Be reasonable about the amount you are giving to your children.” –Shannon Wakeland

With a bigger or expensive thing on mind that they really want to have, teens will have to save up to be able to buy it. This practice could also help them in the near future. Parents, being the children’s best teachers, need to teach them how to save money as early as elementary or high school in order to accomplish their goals and encourage them to plan for their future.

Since they are the main target of this topic, it can help them to give importance to money and develop proper spending and saving habits. This can also be the parent’s guide on teaching their children about proper allowance management and different concerns regarding money. Lastly, the study is intended for teachers because they can be able to teach the teens about the things associated with allowance or money. They are the students’ second parent in school after all.

Children are able to know the importance of money in their lives because of the help and guidance of their parents. Hence, the elders must practice them about proper spending and saving habits even in a young age. Practice makes

perfect, so by continuously doing this kind of habit, they can get used to it and prepare for bigger financial problems in the near future.

There are several banks that offer saving accounts for teenagers, like Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI)’s Jumpstart Savings. It is a specially designed savings account that helps in mentoring children how to save, while having fun with the perks that come with it. This can be an instrument in helping children to balance their savings and their expenses.

Advanced Math class is another way to help teens improve their mathematical skills and use it in managing their money. If a child doesn’t know how to deal with numbers, how can he be able to compute his savings and expenses?
