Blue Velvet. The film’s main actors are Kyle MacLachlan, Laura Dern, Isabella Rossellini, and Dennis Hopper. They play the roles of the a college student named Jeffrey Beaumont, the role of a detective’s daughter named Sandy Williams, the role of crazy singer named Dorothy Vallens, and the role of a homicidal maniac called Frank Booth. The three Ideologies are Implicit, Explicit, and Neutral Ideology. Ideologies are the way a movie portrays its message. Whether it’s by getting the message across no matter what in an explicit manner, getting the message across in a subtle way like the movie Blue Velvet, or somewhere in between using a Neutral ideology. I think the movie blue velvet uses Implicit Ideology because the message it is trying to give is shown to you throughout the film but you don't realize it because it is very subtle. I think the message blue velvet is trying to give is the reality of life. That the world is not perfect and that you need to keep your eyes open. Throughout the movie Jeffrey gets to experience the best of both worlds. He goes on date and lives through what people want to make the world out to be, a care free world with no danger; however at the same time he witness disturbing evil things that are done behind closed door. His encounters with Frank are not safe, he realizes a detective is corrupt, and notices his life's in danger countless times after finding the severed ear. David Lynch does a great job of carrying his message across by showing the audience that some people may live on the same planet but they live in two different worlds.
