Within our society, individuals are prompted to have their own judgments and perceptions about the world and those around it. Judgment and perception can be described as an individual’s own opinion about other individuals, in which this could further be described as both implicit and explicit bias. Implicit and explicit bias can be portrayed further into what an individual’s feelings and emotions are to those around them; it can also affect the individual's way of behaving towards others. The idealism of implicit and explicit bias is further recognized in the health care community in which it affects health care disparities. Effects of Implicit Bias on Therapeutic Communication and Rapport Perceptions and the understanding of other individual’s start off at an early age in which frequently, the judgment of others is heavily influenced by friends or family. Implicit bias is the understanding of one’s own feelings, where it can be displayed unconsciously towards other individuals.
