Even though the framework and policies set forth above could apply to most circumstances, that does not necessarily mean that I will be able to execute them in the way that they are meant to be. If a future employer, for example, requires that the details of my work remain secret for whatever reason, I would be bound by my commitment to the employer to do just that (Ferrell, 2016). That said, I would still be able to avoid lying by imply stating that my job involves sensitive information that I cannot, or am not at liberty to, discuss. This situation, while it would not be ideal from a personal ethical standpoint, would allow me to reduce the difference of being unable to tell the truth by knowing that I am not lying, and that I have made another commitment to keep secrecy, one that is likely legally enforceable (Ferrell, 2016). Another worthwhile example to consider, one that has both legal and political elements to it, would be to note that just because something is legal, that does not make it ethical, and vise-versa (Ferrell, 2016). If the federal government decided to start a gun registration and/or the confiscation of personal firearms, I would lie about my ownership, and fight to keep my guns because I know it is a God-given universal, irrevocable, personal right that supersedes any such legislation (Ferrell, 20). Lying, at least intentionally, is a breach of trust between people, no matter their relationship to one another. The relationship comes becomes important when deciding whether the lying is right or wrong. Lying to a friend that you care about is a very poor long term strategy that can even result in the dissolution of the friendship, as almost happened with Matt and I. All relationships are built on trust, and poor management of relationships is a guaranteed way to fail in business or personal dealings. It is necessary to maintain high ethical standards for one 's self, as I have set mine forth here, and to ensure that others know what you stand for, so that you may build a good reputation rooted in your values.
