These were 5 traits that were found in the successful programs: program size, simplicity of design, a focus on patients’ needs, the ability to collect data easily and analyze results, and the presence of incentives that encourage all stakeholders to comply with the program. (Brandt, 2010) This shows that it takes a quality program designed with special criteria to truly have a positive outcome in a disease prevention program. Designed correctly these programs can reduce costs, increase quality care, and improve health outcomes while increasing patient satisfaction.
Taking in all these factors one can believe that implementing a successful disease prevention program can make a difference. It will never completely solve the problem but reducing the current trends, improving health globally, lowering healthcare costs, and increasing patient satisfaction makes a difference. It is the responsibility of a healthcare provider to promote healthy lifestyles and to do are due diligence to reduce chronic condition development.
