Argumentative Essay On My Apartment Complex

Over the past year of my residence at the Parc Ridge Apartments, there is one key aspect of life at this complex that continues to trouble me. In my opinion, it is unacceptable that my apartment complex does not offer a recycling program for the tenants. I am originally from San Francisco, where we pride ourselves on how green we are. I was surprised to find that a city in the Los Angeles area would be so behind the times when it comes to recycling. In cities like San Francisco or Seattle, the city is so on board with recycling that they have even implemented policies that fine citizens for putting recyclable items into the trash. As an environmentalist, I feel that it is policies like these that will create real change in our world and will help us end the irreparable damage that we have done to our planet. And therefore my proposal is this: to implement a recycling program in my apartment complex. After researching this project, I have come to find that it is not as expensive as one might think. Typically, the waste removal company already in place is able to also pick up …show more content…
It can save the complex a great deal of money on trash bills. As of now, the residents of these apartments create an overwhelming amount of waste. The massive trash dumpsters in our garage overflow with garbage each week. The average cost of trash dumpster pick up is around $20 per dumpster a week as opposed to the $10 it cost to pick up a recycling dumpster. We currently have ten dumpsters in our residence. If five of these trash dumpsters were replaced with recycling dumpsters, the bill for waste disposal would be significantly lower. We could save the complex almost $200 dollars each week, amounting to savings of up to $9,000 per year. The total cost of recycling and trash pickup is vastly lower than the pickup of solely trash, and it does not require any additional pickups that were not already in

The GreenburgGoGreen Initiative is not such a bad idea. Think about it, millions of pounds of trash is dumped and picked up everyday from peoples houses. Yes, people recycle but that only reduces trash waste to a certain amount. If there was a way to reduce trash waste more, then why not try it? Of course it'll cost money, change always does, but think about the homeless people in other countries, such as India, who live around trash everyday.…

Some of the main reasons people rent trash bins includes moving, spring cleaning, and renovations. All of these projects will most certainly produce a large amount of waste, and trying to haul the trash to the landfill is not only a pain, but having to make several trips is costly in gas, not to mention the wear and tear on your vehicle. There are times when renting a dumpster may require a special permit, particularly if you are engaging in a renovation or some type of remodeling to your home. It has come to my concern and attention that recycling should be mandatory in ISA. Americans make more than 200 million tons of garbage each year due to the garbage outburst that is not recycled. I personally believe that recycling should be mandatory in ISA because the EPA system averages out that 75% of the American waste stream of garbage is only 30% recycled which isn’t even half of it. Therefore ISA should go green and have recycle bins which then the recycled items will be processed to a recycling company. One of the reasons recycling should be mandatory is because it will protect wildlife from decreasing the risk of killing an animal from lake to sea, or from forest to rivers.…

Society nowadays face many problems as a whole, as well as problems individually in different neighborhoods. In the surrounding area of Woodside, Queens there are many issues in which should be fixed in order to provide a happier living environment for its residents. People toss litter around like a game of basketball, except there’s no hoop around to aim it in (simile and irony)! Although it is a personal choice to litter and be impatient to locate a trashcan, lack of trash bins for disposable waste is a major issue. Let’s say you go out for a walk with a bag of chips.…

Littering is what pollutes the earth. Fast food wrappers and cigarette butts are the most commonly littered items and 50% of the time the litterer doesn’t even realize he/ she is doing it (EPA, 2016). By throwing the trash in a garbage and bottle and cans in the recycle bin instead of out the window, the amount of pollution that is affecting our water sources and wildlife will decrease. This will also save time and money spent on trying to clean the litter up.…

There is one planet that is inhabitable, so as humans we should do everything in our power to make the Earth sustainable. As many think recycling promises a brighter future for our planet, they are quite frankly being deceived. We are more likely to drive ourselves into the ground by funding recycling than to just leave the garbage to, quite literally, rot in its own filth. To some people recycling is just a lost cause, but to many others’ it has wedged its way into becoming a part of his or her lifestyle.…
