Getting different youth clubs and organizations involved like Boys and Girls clubs, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA), Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA), and other clubs found in the community. Collaborating with these different organizations to help promote and implement these classes and exercises in the community. Having each organization in charge of one aspect of the program for example bike club.
Contacting doctor’s offices and hospitals leaving flyers to inform patients of these classes. Placing an ad in the local paper each week with information on classes. Informing local businesses of the classes and ask if they can add it to their newsletters if they have one. The same classes would repeat for fifteen weeks then be switched around based on community needs.
Considering the different cultures in a community is important. Implementing Spanish-speaking classes so they can include more people is essential. When implementing a MEND program one study showed that the childhood obesity program was able to reach people of low socioeconomic classes, but they were less likely to complete the program (Fagg et al., 2015).
Reaching as many people as possible would be important to this programs success and would require significant marketing to be successful. Also finding ways to reach people of all socioeconomic statuses would be the goal. Promotion would have to involve many people reaching out to other providers, educators…
