Imperator Furiosa In Mad Max: Fury Road

Imperator Furiosa, the fierce driver of the war rig, is the real protagonist in Mad Max: Fury Road. The Citadel would not have been overthrown if it were not for Furiosa’s efforts. Furiosa contains vital characteristics a protagonist in a story should obtain. 
 First, Imperator Furiosa has hope for a better life for Immortan Joe’s Wives and herself at the “Green Place” where she was once stolen from.This hope Furiosa contains is vital in all protagonists trying to succeed in a goal. For example, Ree Dolly, the protagonist in Winter’s Bone, has hope to save her family’s home by finding her father no matter what it took. Hope can make a person take place in mad actions in order to help them achieve their goal. Ree showing up at Mr. Thump’s house after already being warned away is an example of how hope can make people brave even in the …show more content…
Furiosa demonstrates this bravery created from hope when she drives into the dust storm for a chance at survival in a better world. When Furiosa finds out the “Green Place” is destroyed, it is her hope for a better life that helps her from giving up on her dream which makes her the real protagonist of the story. 
 The ability to trust someone who once seemed untrustworthy is a crucial characteristic for a protagonist. It takes a true protagonist to accept that they are unable to accomplish their goal alone. In Winter’s Bone, Ree placed her trust in Uncle Teardrop who saved her life by rescuing her from the Thump Milton’s house. At first Unlce Teardrop seemed untrustworthy due to him lying about her father being dead from a meth house explosion. If it were not for Uncle Teardrop, Ree would have died and never found her father. In Mad Max:Fury Road, Imperator Furiosa holds trust in Mad Max to help her achieve her goal of finding a better life. At first, Mad Max seemed untrustworthy to Furiosa because of his attempt to kill her and steal the war rig, but soon she understood that they both were trying to achieve the same goal: stay
