Animals are very important to humans. They can be friends, food providers or even family members.. They provide entertainment, they listen to you without disagreement, and they make us happy even in the worst situations. However, every year an excessive amount of animals are killed in US facilities. How can people be so inhumane and take away those lives solely for their own benefit? The act of using animals for research is morally wrong. We should not use animals for any research purposes because it is unreliable, wasteful and unethical.

According to Yougenome.org, “scientist has been able to advance their knowledge of human and animal health and diseases dramatically.” About 400 years ago, a famous Greek doctor Galen used animals to discover how blood circulates in the body (FAQs). Henceforth, using animals for medical purpose started to grow because it helped human to discovered many new drugs. However, we’ve been using animals for research for a massive amount of time. Now technology is growing rapidly and allowing us to invent lots of great things. We have used so many living animals to find only a few drugs, and have already discovered countless ways to cure the disease without animals. It is time to drop the amount that we use. It is time for us to invent a new way to research in the medical field. The amount of animals we are using for research is ridiculously high (over one hundred …show more content…
According to III, 79.7 millions families, about 60.5% of U.S household own a pet. On the other hand, every year, there are over a hundred million animals killed in the laboratories for medical research, high school’s classroom lesson, medical training, and for curiosity (PETA). These animals include but are not limited to cats, dogs, mice, hamsters, rabbits, guinea pigs, monkeys, and fish. In 2015, there is about 61,101 dogs, 19,932 cats, 98,420 hamster and over 600,000 other animals were used in U.S for research (AAVS). Based on these facts, how could people own and love their pets while killing some of them at the same time? They own cats, dogs and several other animals for entertainment and kill them for health benefits. This perspective is illogical. The health of these research animals slowly erodes into death. Furthermore, before these animals die, they are forced to inhale toxic fumes, suffer pain for several hours, have their skin burned off, their spinal cords crushed, holes drilled into their skulls, and live in a small glass box (PETA). This is an abominable act that causes animals to suffer so much pain and fear that they otherwise would never experience. Therefore, using animals for research is unethical.
Currently, our country is growing the most rapidly in the world. We have landed on the moon successfully, created aircrafts and invented computers. However, we are still incessantly killing
