According to Yougenome.org, “scientist has been able to advance their knowledge of human and animal health and diseases dramatically.” About 400 years ago, a famous Greek doctor Galen used animals to discover how blood circulates in the body (FAQs). Henceforth, using animals for medical purpose started to grow because it helped human to discovered many new drugs. However, we’ve been using animals for research for a massive amount of time. Now technology is growing rapidly and allowing us to invent lots of great things. We have used so many living animals to find only a few drugs, and have already discovered countless ways to cure the disease without animals. It is time to drop the amount that we use. It is time for us to invent a new way to research in the medical field. The amount of animals we are using for research is ridiculously high (over one hundred …show more content…
According to III, 79.7 millions families, about 60.5% of U.S household own a pet. On the other hand, every year, there are over a hundred million animals killed in the laboratories for medical research, high school’s classroom lesson, medical training, and for curiosity (PETA). These animals include but are not limited to cats, dogs, mice, hamsters, rabbits, guinea pigs, monkeys, and fish. In 2015, there is about 61,101 dogs, 19,932 cats, 98,420 hamster and over 600,000 other animals were used in U.S for research (AAVS). Based on these facts, how could people own and love their pets while killing some of them at the same time? They own cats, dogs and several other animals for entertainment and kill them for health benefits. This perspective is illogical. The health of these research animals slowly erodes into death. Furthermore, before these animals die, they are forced to inhale toxic fumes, suffer pain for several hours, have their skin burned off, their spinal cords crushed, holes drilled into their skulls, and live in a small glass box (PETA). This is an abominable act that causes animals to suffer so much pain and fear that they otherwise would never experience. Therefore, using animals for research is unethical.
Currently, our country is growing the most rapidly in the world. We have landed on the moon successfully, created aircrafts and invented computers. However, we are still incessantly killing

Animal Research is, has always been, and will most likely continue to be a delicate subject. The use of animals in research ranges from cosmetics to medical and wherever there are animals being tests there are groups of people arguing the morality and ethics of the testing being done. Excluding cosmetics and the like for now (that’s a different argument), the use of animal research in neuroscience is absolutely necessary and though it is a sensitive issue, there are ways to make it more ethically acceptable and to protect the animals themselves from blatant cruelty. Today, animal research is more humane than it has ever been.…

However, there are many different types of alternatives to using animals. Many religions agree that it is acceptable to use animals if it benefits humans and is absolutely necessary. Despite this being true, the majority of these experiments being performed aren't accurate, therefore they do not benefit humans. Lastly, scientists argue that because animals have shorter lifespans they are better able to study long term effects, genetic manipulations, and are able to watch for symptoms in future generations but, studying inaccurate information doesn’t help the general public (Source…

According to peta.org, in the United States alone, over one hundred million vulnerable animals are inhumanely killed each year during unnecessary scientific experimentations. Testing on innocent and defenseless animals is a revolting act that needs to be terminated. Pain and suffering are the only sensations many of these animals experience during the last moments of their diminutive lives (Garner). Scientists have claimed that any pain that animals feel during experiments are “necessary” for medical advancements, however, inflicting pain on any living organism is unjustifieable (Garner). Important to realize, is that animal testing is an unreliable and wasteful source of research (Animal Aid).…

For example, in Shany Sun’s Young Scientists Journal article, “The Truth Behind Animal Testing,” the author says, “…medical advancements that have been discovered through animal testing include penicillin, blood transfusions, insulin (that controls blood sugar levels of diabetics), kidney transplants, and vaccines for polio and meningitis” (Sun 1). This example shows just how beneficial animal testing in medical research can be. These medical advancements would not have been available for years if animal testing had not…

However, with the rise of new technologies and growing concern over animal welfare, the ethics of animal experimentation and the extent to which it is practiced has increasingly come into question. Although animal experimentation is regulated to prevent excessive suffering, opponents argue that these measures are insufficient. Proponents of animal research argue that knowledge gained from it and the various applications for it justify the unethical manner by which that knowledge is obtained. This argument neglects critical moral considerations rooted in deontology and utilitarianism which condemn the unethical use of animals for the advancement…
