For example the issues of race, racism, gender roles, and the technological and economic development had a huge impact on the American homefront. With the Americans fighting against the axis powers (Germany, Italy, Great Britain, and Japan etc. ) came a lot of responsibility for the people back home in the United states. With over 12 million men going to fight in World War 2 there were so many jobs left unintended. Probably for the first time in american history, the women had became employed and took over the jobs that the men had left behind to fight in war. Jobs that usually the men had worked were being run by the american women. Since the labor workforce wasn’t enough for the american women , even young adults helped their families and got jobs. Many of these jobs helped provide the necessities that the men had needed in order to keep fighting Germany Nazis. For example a few of the car companies had helped built tanks and other automobiles for the american military forces. Especially for the Japanese and African americans living in the US during this time period. The Japanese Americans were being treated unequally. And with the americans discriminating the Japanese just because their natives had bombed Pearl HArbor, they were shipped to the West coast and put into detention camps. Detention camps were basically compounds where prisoners are placed temporarily, as of pending determination of their legal status under immigration laws. The Japanese Americans were treated as if they were the enemies because of who they are in person. Although the Japanese were basically being held in camps, some people took the opportunity to fight with the Americans in the World War. They had believed that fighting with the other americans would show them how loyal they were to the United States. Although that may have been true other Japanese americans refused to fight because of the fact that they were fighting against their home country. And were eventually called the NO-No
