Virtual Reality Changing Technology In the 21st century, man has devised a new technological advance in technology. This has revolutionized the way people will look at the world for the better. Virtual Reality… The most technologically advanced product that man has been able to create. Developed originally in the 1960s, the world has been working towards this for tech for many years. With failure after failure, no one has been able to come up with a way for Virtual Reality to become a true reality. That is however, in 2011, a young man by the name of the Palmer Luckey brought Virtual Reality to life in his parents’ garage. This is the sources of entertainment that has brought many together and created a new source of playtime, ranging from video games to theatre, VR has been able to adapt and create a new source of entertainment for casual people or intense gamers alike. One of them most recent additions to the entertainment world is the Disney Theatrical Productions decided to take VR to a whole new level. They decided to test live theater by creating a music short from the Lion King, “Circle of Life.” With this practice, they could have the Broadway performance, then with the multiple camera angles set out throughout the crowd during the performance, they could create a scenery for people at home to watch it (not live, although pre-recorded) from the virtual reality devices to make it look they were taking part in watching the performance live (Zeitchik). “It is uncharted territory and we 're taking it one step at a time” as stated by the executive of Disney Theatrical Productions. Virtual Reality is taking steps in theater, however, it’s also making huge advances in the gaming realm of the VR world. One of the most notable Virtual Reality systems for gaming right now is the PlayStation VR. This is made specifically by Sony to help you play the game and experience some original games in a new fashion. Two of the most recent games that are being recreated are Resident Evil and Batman: Arkham Knight. Since the creation of the PSVR, Sony has devised a game to go with its release to test the system. SuperHyperCube is the newest addition to the gaming world and is the starting point for the new generation of gamers. Mr. Fish stated with Virtual Reality that “It’s the Wild West right now.
