The Women’s Suffrage Movement was women fighting for equal rights of men. It began on July 19, 1848 and it lasted until August 18, 1920.It started with the mother of a young housewife, her name was Elizabeth Cady Stanton. She assisted Suzan B. Anthony in organizing the world's first women's rights meeting, they formed the National Women's Loyal League. Because of this meeting more women and girls started to believe that they were equals compared to men. This movement critically impacted America in both positive and negative ways. But because of these brave and influential women, we have every right men have today. Not only do we have the right to vote, but we also have the right to run in office and to hold government jobs. Another important right that we have today is that women can own land without having to be married to a man. Also, we have the freedom of speech, we can talk and express our opinions on subjects that we couldn’t talk about back then.
