Colluvi My Mood Effects On The Concert

Improved Essays
Moods are something we all simultaneously transition through on a daily basis. I believe they run our lives because your mood can drastically effect how you react to a situation. This paper is supposed to be about the impact that the evening length performance Colluvia had on me and my opinions about it. I have decided to add a twist to this concept by incorporating how my mood effected my opinion of the concert. Earlier that day I found out that I was not accepted to participate in the Emerging Choreographers showcase. This was very upsetting for me and it really killed my mood for the evening. Generally, when I get asked to work a performance I am excited to see new works and analyze them; see what the community is doing with dance. After …show more content…
The two dances I did fully concentrate on were by 6degrees dance. The first one I had seen part of a video in marketing class and had already been intrigued to watch. It was really interesting and slightly lifted my down in the blues dance funk. The lights were red and the music was creepy. The dancers were Tyler and my teacher Toni. Tyler was like this little demon that was trying to control Toni. The choreography was creative and unique. It incorporated a little aerial dance because Tyler was in a harness. I would love to see a further extension of this idea in other dances that relate. Every element came together to create a clear thought; faces, movmens, music, lights. The second dance that Toni and gaby did was very akward especially because it was my teacher talking about sex. I understood and was interested in the concept, I will get to see this further in the spring because it will be part of 6degrees evening performance. I did not quite understand who Gaby was suppose to be representing as she danced around Toni. I think it may make more sense in the whole performance and not just as a single dance. Overall it kept my interest and if Toni was not my teach, it intrigued me to attend the performance in

The Kinesis dance performance that I decided to analyze was Last Dance. The dance was choreographed by Amanda Steiner, and the music that was used was “Love in the Dark” by Adel. Besides being the choreographer, Amanda was always one of the two dancers. The form of the dance was a narrative, with Amanda as a wife and the second dancer, Christian Vidaure, as her husband. The idea of Last Dance was about how love sometimes changes, and how those changes lead to drifting apart.…

The music starts off soothing as the tempo quickly speeds up the dancer’s movement speeds up. The dancers body filled the dresses with their backs out. On November 12-13 of 2016 in Los Angeles, California, the 5th annual Camp Flog Gnaw carnival and music festival went underway. The event included tons of musical performances ranging from many different genres of music. Over the course of two days I saw many acts, but one that really stood out was a band called, The Internet. The Internet is a neo soul band comprising of 6 members, one lead vocalist, while the others play musical instruments like guitars, drums, keyboards, etc. As the sun set next to the USC Coliseum, the band took the stage with bright purple lights.…

All the dancers that participated in it all had their own personal stories that they could relate to which made the dance so special. Everyone was truly happy to be performing and telling the story. Another thing that really worked well with the dance was all the different parts throughout the dance along with the formations. Never did I once get bored and drift off into space while that dance was on stage. The choreography was so dynamic and unique that you never knew what to watch because everything that was going on was so beautiful.…

When the word “home” is defined in a dictionary you are given definitions like “the place in which one’s domestic affections are centered” or “any place of residence or refuge” but to me home means so much more. To me, home is theatre. Those who know me well will attest that the change in me throughout this experience is drastic. Theatre transports me to places I couldn’t dream of otherwise and two years ago, I was taken to a place that would change my life forever and theatre transformed to the place I call home. Thoughts and ideas flooded my mind as I stepped into the off-green colored cafeteria.…

I am sure during its time it must have caused a stir in the audience. Even today I think it would cause discussion if performed in front of a general audience. One thing I noticed about this piece specifically the “music” drove the dance. I believe the poem is the leading force, in conveying the message. I think without it the piece could be interpreted into any form of feeling distressed.…

My mood was jubilant that day because I was glad I came to that performance instead of staying home. I would have felt home sick with all that final review so it was pleasant and peaceful having entertainment for such a low cost but great performance. The movements I identified were a lot of the terms I went over in dance class from degage to grand battement, the list goes all over. The name of the performance should be called “The Art of Adventure” and it should be divided into subgenres which focuses on the main theme adventure. Adventure can be dim or bright but they always seem to have a long lasting well produced ending.…
