Theses tool would be appropriate for the Diabetes Prevention Campaign because motivational phone calls, can be used to motivate the population as well as providing counseling while gathering valuable information from the community. The first step of the screening process can also be done over the phone with the consent of the participant. In 1992, a successful campaign was conducted to raise awareness and knowledge about diabetes, and the method used for that campaign a telephone questionnaire (Penn, Stevenson, McMahon, Bodansky, 1992). Therefore, it is possible to use a survey to gather information during prescreening for the diabetes prevention campaign. Another tool that could be beneficial for the diabetes prevention campaign is the use of public service announcements. Using a mass media campaign involving Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses from all public services to help raise awareness in the target population would help to reach a large group at a low cost (Cavil & Bauman, 2004).
