Originally the Guildford Stranglers, formed in 1974, started out playing in pubs and basically anywhere, where they could. They became fairly well known through this, but the milestone of their success happened in 1976, when they got the opportunity to be an opening act for the Ramones, the legendary punk rock band from America, which was one the bands that started the initial punk rock wave along with the Pistols and Velvet Underground. The Stranglers started out with the typical aggressive vocals and lyrics, inspired by the early punk mentality, angry attitude and alienation from society. They maintained this spirit through most of their musical career, but they managed to put in many more musical aspects into their music, like psychedelia and in later phase even pop songs aimed for radio’s music charts. The Stranglers managed to record an amazing 17 albums, but like most of the punk rock bands of 1970s, they enjoyed the most of their fame during their early years of
