Public transportation has its limitations and disadvantages in the South Florida region, Miami alone suffers from its limited routed Metrorail. Even Miami-Dade local buses of Miami are bound to suffer the same fate as drivers do… traffic. Miami is ranked 28th for high traffic congestion based on a worldwide poll by TomTom (TomTom International BV, 2016).
The South Florida region suffers from car culture, which means people who live in low density residential areas are dependent on vehicles to travel one to another. Regardless of the measures local official’s take, it remains difficult to rely on Public Transportation due to daily mishaps such as delays, incidents with passengers. In addition, with the recent surge in of car- services such as Uber, Lyft and Haxi, the perception towards South Florida’s public transportation usage does not decrease traffic congestion.
Despite this, Brightline is designed to be an alternative means of driving. Brightline plans to tackle the high volume of vehicles driven, tourism and the lack of highways. The company hopes to reduce these issues and draw more passengers with its convenience and safety.

At present, it will have stops in Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. The vision is to offer an alternative transportation solution to ultimately promote a car and care-free South Florida, and it is partnering with Miami Dade County Transit (Brightline, 2016). The transit system in Miami Dade County is the fifteenth largest in public transit system in the United States of America, and the largest in Florida (Barrow, 2016). The goal is to connect the Metrorail with the Tri-Rail in Broward and Palm Beach
