Writing is a practice which involves a multi-stage, recursive and social process. In other words, to understand you must learn that in writing you must brainstorm, outline, draft, edit, and proofread. These steps will be done repeatedly and for reinsurance have a peer review your work. My understanding of this goal can be seen in my essay titled “The Impact of Privilege.” During the course of the essay I often brainstorm new ideas that will inform my readers about privilege. Brainstorming lead me to create an engaging opening statement by stating “Just because it didn’t happen to me doesn’t mean it won’t happen to you.
