Mobile phones, an instrument that has a constant development, in terms of form, functionality, and design. These developments can either be positive or negative depending on the user and the way mobile phones is being useful for them. For some people, mobile phones are considered to be a powerful and productive tool in the work force, when a laptop or a desktop is out of reach. Mobile phones could be used for messaging and emailing clients or customers, and with the advancement of technology, we now have Microsoft office right on our mobile phones which makes it easier for us to get work done on the go. Social media is a social interaction between people in which they share and exchange any digital media such as pictures, videos, texts, and audio. Social media has changed the way we communicate. Prior to social media, mobile voice communication and a bit of texting was being used. After mobile phones has got the capabilities of 2G and 3G digital network signals, the number of people using social media increased. People use these social media for a number of different uses. Or is it just a mind game by the social media companies? The answer to that if fully personal and depends on each individual. Social media can amplify social events and help raise awareness of issues relating to people amongst people. For example, the ALS ice bucket challenge. The ALS ice bucket challenge was to raise awareness and money for a disease known as Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis AKA ALS. This is a disease that effects the nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord, the degeneration of the motor nneurone in the brain leads to inability to control muscle movement, and this leads to involuntary muscle action and eventually death. Therefore the ice bucket challenge was to temporarily replicate the effects of ALS by pouring a bucket of ice on your body and sharing this video online.
