What invention had the greatest impact on history why? What is the Spinning Jenny? The spinning jenny, is a spinning frame, and was one of the key developments in the industrialization of weaving during the early industrial revolution. It was invented in 1764 by James Hargreaves in Stanhill, Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire in England. The spinning jenny increased the speed of weaving created a new problem because it now took three spinners to keep up with one weaver. It is claimed that one day his daughter Jenny, accidentally knocked over over the family spinning wheel.
