How Does Homelessness Affect Society

Homelessness Effecting Society Homelessness affects more than 3.5 million citizens annually in the United States alone. People become homeless because of the loss of a job, mental or physical disabilities, or they do not have the skills to get a higher paying job. Homelessness is a social problem because of the lack of jobs, the lack of education, and the lack of affordable housing. People may think homelessness is not that big of a problem, and that homeless individuals are just lazy and want attention, but it is much bigger deal. The people who think that are the people who act out violently towards the homeless. Now, some homeless people may be homeless because they are lazy and do not feel like working, but that is definitely not the case for all of them. These citizens are homeless because they cannot find a job, they have a mental or physical illness, they do not have the right education to get a job, there are no homes available for them, or they do not have the skills to receive a higher paying job. Looking at how many people are homeless in the United States, it is absurd to think that the people who are in that situation would be doing it just for attention or because they are lazy.
