This research presents adequate evidence supporting the way younger siblings’ impression of their older siblings influence their academic self-perceptions and performance over time. Older siblings are important to their younger siblings, which has an influence on their psychological and behavioral properties. However, younger siblings usually put their older siblings on a pedestal so high that they believe they will never achieve what they have done, so they don’t even try. What this study revealed is the difference between African American families and European American Families. The outcome of older siblings having a higher a GPA than their younger siblings is the same for both African American families and European American Families. However, there is a difference between same-sex siblings and mixed-sex siblings. African American families revealed there’s no difference between same-sex siblings and mixed-sex siblings. However, European American Families revealed a big difference in same-sex siblings and mixed-sex siblings, disclosing that for same-sex siblings the younger siblings are almost equal to their older siblings GPA and that mixed-sex siblings the younger siblings have lower GPA than their older siblings (Bouchey, Shoulberg, Jodl, Eccles
