The Harry Potter books collection as a whole have brought a lot of cultural changes on the society. The most common impact is the increasing of the reading level among children and adolescents. Even adults like to read Harry Potter books, because the storyline is composed by many genres and themes, it is also translated in 67 languages worldwide, these aspects matter when you want to realize a bigger audience. The marketing techniques and movie production strategies also influenced the attraction of the huge audience. The story is a composition of many themes, for example: horror, mystery, fantasy, sports, pulp fiction and even romance. These themes are universal, that’s why adults also like to read these types of books, but ofcourse children and young adults like it better.

It’s definetely not J.K. Rowling’s fault, she didn’t mean to cause hatred or someting like that. But some (religious) people claim that the novels contain Satanic subtexts. A lot of catholics, orthodox christians, protestants and muslims have had serious complaints about the series. The magic and spells that are used in the books have little resemblance to occultism. They are just being used for entertainment, don’t forget that these are fantasy books. But still, it caused some serious controversy, the books were even burned in public.
