It has been said and proven that immigration has negative outcomes, but it also has positive results. Even when immigration is a problem, there are many solutions for it. The government needs to take action to make the system better, because it actually is not working how it is supposed to work. There are some changes that can be made to the immigration system such as making changes or additions to policies like the Guest Worker Program, the Asylum Process, and others that are going to benefit foreigners and the system of the United States.
In the United States, there are many foreigners that are working on the jobs that many times American citizens say that does belong to the people who is coming from outside the U.S. However, they are not looking at the benefits that this is bringing to the country and the economy. The system is not very updated and is not covering all the needs of the people. Foreigners who want to enter the U.S legally need to wait a long time in order to do that and this is what gives them the only option to come here illegally. One instance of that is when in What’s Wrong With Our Immigration System says, “A naturalized U.S. citizen from the Philippines must wait over 20 years before obtaining a green card for a brother or sister” (7). Even when it is just a brother or a sister, it is still not fair the fact that they have to wait too many years to reunify with the rest of their family. The U.S is known as the land of opportunities but, it is failing in helping people who are separated to be together. As a country things need to be done. The system should be updated to provide better assistance and make the waiting time less, because many things can happen in twenty years. What if these brothers and sisters never reunify? It would be very disappointed that, for example the daughters and sons of these brothers and sisters never meet the rest of their family, and as a great country, the United States should help this to not happen because it is one of the countries that has the power to do it.
