The purpose of this project was to transform the research paper into some sort of medium and adapt it to a specific audience or purpose. The topic I wrote my research paper on was Illegal Immigration and its effects on national security. I did not know how exactly I wanted to display my findings. There are several ways to showcase findings such as a video, a poster ora model. Each type of medium attracts a different audience and can serve distinct purposes. After careful thought, I decided to carry out the project in the form of some sort of model. A model would be visually appealing and would engage a viewer more than a simple presentation.
Before beginning my project, I wanted a blueprint to know exactly how the final product would look. I needed to figure out how rhetorical qualities would be used, a specific audience and the context. I wanted my model to stand out and be different from other people's projects. This led me to drawing out my ideas and changing them as needed. The model I decided to go for consists of a border dividing a piece of land in half. On one side of the border is an immigrant family who is appears to be sad and on the other is a State of Liberty who is frustrated. All of the materials used were some I had easy access to. Ethos in a piece relates to the credibility of the author. I am credible for making the piece because I wrote an extensive research paper that incorporated primary research. This is an appeal to emotion and this can be seen in the paper family I included in the model. A family is found on one side of the border in my piece and appear to be sad. I wanted to the viewer to feel sorry for them. Logos was incorporated through the use of facts on both sides of the model border. In addition to these qualities, I wanted my audience to be all students at Eastern Michigan
