Immigration Policy Persuasive Essay

The immigration policy of your candidate Donald Trump is rooted in the idea that illegal immigrants are people who are taking our jobs, committing crimes, and bringing in illegal contraband, like drugs. He calls for the complete ejection of all illegals in our country, and the creation of “an impenetrable physical wall on the southern border”. Trump plans to force Mexico to pay for a wall that will return the illegal immigrants that Trump doesn't want. If Trump doesn't want them, why would Mexico? Trying to get someone who doesn't benefit from the creation of the wall to pay for the wall is nearly impossible, and if it does, what benefits will America have to give Mexico for the wall? While the American people all agree that border security is necessary, is Trump’s plan really feasible? …show more content…
However, he continually points out that legal immigrants aren’t bad people at all. Mr. Trump understands that people try to get in illegally because the path to citizenship is incredibly long. It takes a minimum of 5 years to be a citizen, not even including the time it takes to get a green card. Mr. Trump says he plans to shorten the path to citizenship, but has not clarified how he plans to do that. He uses this point to remedy some of his more hardline rhetoric on immigration. Another part of his plan that many voters overlook is that his overall plan will be expensive. As of 2012, the budget, for immigration was $18 billion, $5.82 billion went to ICE(US Immigration and Customs Enforcement). Donald Trump plans to triple the amount of ICE agents significantly increasing the amount spent on Immigration. Where will this money come from? He doesn't want to raise taxes, so does this mean that he is pulling it away from other government programs or is he getting the money from a different external

As a Republican candidate running for president, Trump thinks the immigrants are rapists, criminals, and drug dealers. Trump is bias towards the immigrants because he anticipates that the immigrants commit the majority of the crime and violence in America. From a moral standpoint, I believe Trumps immigration plan is unfair because it asserts certain groups of people to be different than the others. Although I am a U.S. citizen, my parents came from a different country. Consequently, Trump 's plan will deport my family, and my friends, and possibly your family and friends too.…

But one may ask “How do you expect to get every single illegal to go back to their home country?” His only response to this could be is to build the 10-foot wall. Johnson said “A 10-foot wall just requires an 11-foot ladder.” this does say a lot because people will do anything to be in the United States. Trump wants people to come into our country, he wants to bring people in but all he wants is to be able to do it legally.…

Trump believes that illegal immigration is destroying U.S. taxpayers, and he believes that neither Republicans nor Democrats are helping the situation. Republicans don’t do anything about illegal immigration because some of their business supporters want cheap labor. Democrats look at illegal immigrants as potential Democratic voters (135-136). Both Democrats and Republicans may have their reasons for illegal immigrants to stay, but Donald Trump thinks that the parties need to put America’s interests first and that illegal immigrants need to return from whence they came. Trump then continues to discuss that illegal immigrants are by definition, lawbreakers, and refers to them as “illegal aliens” due to the fact that illegal immigrants are often members or violent gangs.…

This shows the purpose of Trump’s side of the argument, which is that he wants to improve America by reducing illegal immigration rates by having a permanent border wall and increase fees on all border crossings. Following up on his belief, Trump wants to construct the new immigration policy that will, in his opinion, return the safety of laws for the American people. The immigration policy also proposes the mandatory return of all criminal aliens currently subsiding in the United States. Trump recognized the Obama Administration for releasing 76,000 aliens from custody of committing criminal convictions since 2013, but still wants to continue on that action by having all criminal aliens to be deported to their home countries by cancelling visas and adding an additional committed crime to being in a country illegally (Trump 3). This further contributes to Trump’s purpose to reduce illegal immigration in the United States and putting all American citizens as a priority in this country.…

After the presidential election, Donald Trump was elected president. Riots broke out, feminists cried, and some people moved to Canada. Honestly trump isn't that bad, he can't start a war in the next 4 years (hopefully), every law and bill he can make has to go through the supreme court, and he cannot change the amendments. So he doesn't really have that much power. So my three issues for trump are wars, taxes, and the wall.…

Trumps border wall should not be build due to the many flaws such as cost, how it doesn't work and how it can cause US and Mexican relations to fall apart. The first reason why Trumps wall should not be built is because it will be too expensive and will raise a lot of taxpayers taxes. According to the article, Why we should not build Trump's border wall (2017), “Needing to fulfil his election pledge to start building on day one, Mr Trump has signed an executive order setting it in motion. He has accepted that US taxpayers will have to cover the initial funding. ”(BBC, para.13).…
