Immigration: The Story Of Illegal Immigration

Great Essays
Immigration There was a young man with the name of Jamiel Shaw at the age of 17. He was a good student and a high school athlete living in Los Angeles. Shaw was coming home one day from school when he was brutally murdered three houses down from his own. He was murdered by Pedro Espinosa who was an illegal alien and gang member. Espinosa was released from jail for assault with a deadly weapon one day prior to the murder of Jamiel Shaw. This brings up many different questions for me. Why was he released on probation? And why didn’t he get deported? This is very tragic, but sadly not the only story that involves an illegal immigrant coming over and bringing crime with them. I feel like this is country immigration laws are very weak and even …show more content…
They are bringing in more and more crime just by coming over the border illegally. They are bringing in drugs, human trafficking, and much more. When they come over illegally they are not just hurting America they are hurting their own people too. People are waiting to come to America legally and get their green cards and visa’s like people getting their driver’s license. And the people who are getting visa’s and green cards are usually people coming over and wanting a better life, by not doing crime and bringing crime with them. While the illegals are mostly coming over to do criminal activities. People say that they aren’t all criminals, and that is where they are wrong, because they are all criminals if they enter this country illegally. Well, they don’t all bring crime with them. While this is true it only takes one person to bring in crime, and there is plenty more than just one person bringing crime into the country. Statistics say “11.7 million illegal immigrants in the U.S. account for 13.6 percent of offenders sentenced to crimes. 12 percent of murder sentences, 20 percent of kidnapping sentences and 16 percent of drug trafficking sentences” (Fox News). It is overwhelming that they have this much impact on our crimes in the U.S. when they make up only 3% of the American population. The biggest opposition I hear about is that they don’t cause that much crime if they do bring crime. The Washington post went …show more content…
If we make harsher immigration laws and enforce them we will help millions of Americans live a better life by minimalizing crime, creating jobs, and just making everyone feel safe in their own homes. Jamiel Shaw he would be alive right now if we first had harsher immigration laws and second if we enforced them. Espinosa was arrested and didn’t get deported I believe that is completely not acceptable, but that was what they thought was right at the time. The harsher the immigration the laws the harder it will to get into America which will benefit America in many ways. I believe that if we lower illegal immigration we will have lower unemployment rate, lower crime rate, and better off for America. If we execute what I think we should be able to this would let many American feel safe in their own home. When Americans don’t feel safe in their own home I believe that is wrong. America the best country, but we can’t feel safe? Harsher immigration laws will make America a better place to

The current policy regarding immigration in the United States under President Obama’s administration is to help secure the border, prioritize felons for deportation- not families, and hold undocumented immigrants accountable by requiring them to pass a criminal background check and pay their fair share of taxes, and modernize the legal immigration system (https://www.whitehouse.gov/issues/immigration). According to the White House administration, the president’s policies have created success by slowing the number of illegal immigrants into the country. The number of illegal immigrants caught crossing the border is as low as it’s been since the 1970’s. About 97% of all illegal immigrants are convicted criminals or have been caught crossing the border. As a result,…

On the other hand, no one wants to consider large masses of people who broke the law to gain entry to a country. The increase in illegal immigration provides for the U.S. criminal justice system. The most obvious form of crime that illegal immigrants bring to the U.S. is often the most overlooked: the immigration itself. It is a crime that is committed by millions of immigrants yearly. By staying in America, they are spending each second inside the U.S. borders doing an illegal act.…

Immigration especially illegal immigration has become topical issue these days. Immigration is said to have plenty of negativities because of the kinds of people that come over the U.S. border. I believe the positives outweigh those negatives. I understand there is a risk if immigrants who come into the U.S. may potentially bring more crime like: stealing, murder, rape, etc. For example the two illegal immigrant males from Mexico, who killed a 64 year old woman in her home in July of 2015 in the state of California.…

Today’s economy is rapidly falling short of expectations with no definitive solutions in sight. Our government representatives show more concern for illegal immigrants than the wellbeing of American citizens. Too many people live in the moment instead of looking forward to the future. Boarder enforcement has lowered their standards since the early 1990’s, practically giving illegal immigrants a “free pass” when caught. These immigrants are processed through immigration offices faster than a stop at your local DMV.…

Many members of society, including political, and social leaders have made assumptions about Mexican immigrants regarding their true intentions for wanting to be in the United States. One of the most common stereotypes heard today is that all Mexicans are criminals or drug dealers who are just here to create trouble for U.S. citizens. Well, it’s not true, not all of them are criminals and they’re not all drug dealers, some are just here to make a better life for themselves. Lately, the United States has been stuck in its own nativist views and have been unfairly targeting Mexican immigrants. Since there has been a sudden rise in criminal activity and violence in the U.S, Mexican immigrants have been partially blamed for it.…
