Immigration There was a young man with the name of Jamiel Shaw at the age of 17. He was a good student and a high school athlete living in Los Angeles. Shaw was coming home one day from school when he was brutally murdered three houses down from his own. He was murdered by Pedro Espinosa who was an illegal alien and gang member. Espinosa was released from jail for assault with a deadly weapon one day prior to the murder of Jamiel Shaw. This brings up many different questions for me. Why was he released on probation? And why didn’t he get deported? This is very tragic, but sadly not the only story that involves an illegal immigrant coming over and bringing crime with them. They are bringing in more and more crime just by coming over the border illegally. They are bringing in drugs, human trafficking, and much more. When they come over illegally they are not just hurting America they are hurting their own people too. People are waiting to come to America legally and get their green cards and visa’s like people getting their driver’s license. And the people who are getting visa’s and green cards are usually people coming over and wanting a better life, by not doing crime and bringing crime with them. While the illegals are mostly coming over to do criminal activities. People say that they aren’t all criminals, and that is where they are wrong, because they are all criminals if they enter this country illegally. Well, they don’t all bring crime with them. While this is true it only takes one person to bring in crime, and there is plenty more than just one person bringing crime into the country. Statistics say “11.7 million illegal immigrants in the U.S. account for 13.6 percent of offenders sentenced to crimes. 12 percent of murder sentences, 20 percent of kidnapping sentences and 16 percent of drug trafficking sentences” (Fox News). It is overwhelming that they have this much impact on our crimes in the U.S. when they make up only 3% of the American population. If we make harsher immigration laws and enforce them we will help millions of Americans live a better life by minimalizing crime, creating jobs, and just making everyone feel safe in their own homes. Jamiel Shaw he would be alive right now if we first had harsher immigration laws and second if we enforced them. Espinosa was arrested and didn’t get deported I believe that is completely not acceptable, but that was what they thought was right at the time. The harsher the immigration the laws the harder it will to get into America which will benefit America in many ways. I believe that if we lower illegal immigration we will have lower unemployment rate, lower crime rate, and better off for America. If we execute what I think we should be able to this would let many American feel safe in their own home. When Americans don’t feel safe in their own home I believe that is wrong.
