People often assume one thing or another, and that immigrants will only bring this country down. In one of the same documents I mentioned earlier, “An address to the American People of the United States upon the Evils of Chinese Immigration,” produced by a Congressional committee, they state that the Chinese have immigrated in the U.S. for a quarter of a century and they still could not understand American government and traditions. They say there is no possible way to “Americanize” them, teach them about us. It was said that they basically don’t support our society. The Chinese were accused of bribery, intimidation, and “other illegal actions.” They were accused of illegal actions and quickly drawn to conclusion, just like President Donald Trump did recently in January, and the document I just mentioned produced in 1878. If we are repeating history, standing the same as we did in 1878, then we show no progression as a country. We don’t appreciate what immigrants have done for us, this country and it cultures and traditions were built off of immigration. Major discoveries in technology here have been from immigrants. Yet, after all of this we still want to see them gone? Above all else, everyone deserves freedom. It shouldn’t matter about your skin color, your religion, where you were born, or anything else.
