We criticize the government for not having been more involved in the regulation and improvement of the living conditions of the immigrant population both in their homes and in their lives outside of their homes. We wonder why the immigration system was not fixed as a means to eliminate all of the issues related to the system. We wonder why everyone made it so difficult to accept the new group of Americans into the nation; and why they made it so difficult for them to assimilate. If we really sit down to think about it, immigrants back then faced the same issues as immigrants today. What makes immigrants of the past different from the immigrants of today? Is it perhaps that they come from a generally different part of the world? Is any group better than the other? Will people one hundred years from now ask why our government did not regulate and improve the living conditions of immigrants
