Although many churches in Italy and Germany are doing all they can to help these immigrants that arrive in the country, most citizens are making it a bit more complicated for them to act these ways. Many European Christians do not understand why Europe would have to welcome in the continent many migrants that are not Christian (usually Muslims) since they are too different from them. Diverse religious beliefs have been subject to many political discussions, and this religious difference becomes a form of racism towards these people that are just searching for a different opportunity. Especially Christians that have lived in Muslim countries, which one would expect to be more open minded, are actually the first ones to say no to giving these people asylum as they claim to have not been treated fairly by them in the countries they were in. For instance, there are many Italians that lived in Egypt, and they know that it took approximately sixteen years and an intervention from the Pope to build a Christian Catholic Church; while in Europe the groups arrive and immediately put themselves at home by building Mosques and creating communities in the main cities which are completely marginalized from the rest of the citizens. Overall, yes, religion plays an important role in how these migrants are treated in the country they arrive in and there is no solution to this problem unless everyone would stop differentiating their cultures and traditions and began to only focus on the people
