Immigration and Refugee Ban
One of the first steps President Trump has made as a new leader is signing the executive order banning immigration and refugees from several different countries in the middle east. Although this may bring a small sense of security and protection to some, tearing innocent families apart, turning away people in need of medical care, and stranding people in unfamiliar dangerous countries is not justified. There are far better solutions to resolve the fear of terrorism the country is facing
Trumps primary justification towards this ban, is to create a feeling of safety and security to US citizens. Prior to a number of terrorist attacks on the country many people are afraid, and as the president Trump wants to protect

People that want to get into the country are going to find a way to get into the country regardless. Additionally, there are many dangerous people in the country already that may or may not be on the watchlist, that the government will never find. This isn't just people of the Middle Eastern countries either. The "Muslim ban" is just adding to the poor stereotypes and making Muslims feel even more threatened and unwelcome in the United States. When in reality people of many races have been involved in terrorism, hate crimes, murder etc. There are a number of steps that could be made to protect the United States that wont effect so many people this negatively. The goal of preventing terrorist attacks in our country is not an easy problem to fix. But banning travel from certain middle eastern countries seems like an extreme that should only be put into place as a very last resort. I think the government should be keeping a closer eye on people who are on the government watchlist. For example the Boston Marathon Bomber was on this watchlist, and if he had been watched more carefully the attack could have been prevented. By keeping an eye on high risk people airport security can question them and restrict there access to travelling to the US. This can also limit there access to deadly weapons.
In Conclusion, this Immigration and Refugee Ban is a step backwards

In discussions of “The Demons of Salem, With Us Still,” by Victor Navasky, one controversial issue is the impact of paranoia . One hand, Miller argues that paranoia can be found in any decade, and that paranoia is within us. On the other hand Kazan contends that our real enemies are out there, for instance, Communists. Navasky maintains that we have faced paranoia throughout history and that it is still intact today. The essence of Miller’s argument is that when hysteria hits us, people forget their better natures and turn on a convenient scapegoat because of the paranoia within us.…

The war on terror can be considered many different things by many different people. To some, it is the most ideal way to overcome terrorists, while to others the war has caused more terror than since attacks such as 9/11. The different procedures and actions taken in order to deal with terroristic acts are only helpful to those carrying out the procedures, disregarding others involved. Other people who are involved in the harm of these actions are the innocent civilians of the war torn countries invaded by western militaries, and those of the western society who are now being stereotyped as terrorists based on race and religion. Based on the actions that have been taken by different western governments, the war on terror can be considered…
