Immigrating To Canada

Decent Essays
We think about the past more often as we get older. Wishing that we can go back in time to experience delightful moments once again. Before immigrating to Canada, I often went to the zoo and have a picnic for lunch with my extended family during special occasions, such as Chinese New Year or National holidays. As the youngest, I was always the first person to rush out whenever my uncle arrives. My siblings would follow closely behind telling me not to run or else I will fall. When we get on the car, I would always go sit beside my cousin that is born in the same

Existentialism: I was born on February 24, 1998. When I came into this life I already had four older brothers and a loving mother and father. Over the years I always had someone to look up to and admire as I continued to learn and grow. My brothers may not have always been the best examples in regards to the choices they made but they did their best to keep me on the right track for being the best person I could possibly be. Like Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, they taught me to have fun with life and enjoy the little things before it was too late.…

The United Province’s economy during the Golden Age of the United Provinces is a shining example of positive impacts from immigration. “There was an extraordinary volume of property, materials, good and services on the market, all available at a moment’s notice. ”2 Important contributors to Amsterdam’s seemingly endless abundance of goods and capital were indeed immigrants seeking both economic opportunity and asylum. “Among the stream of refugees—French Protestants, [those from Antwerp], Jews from Spain and Portugal—were many merchants, often in possession of substantial capital.…

Canada is viewed as a land of immigrants, disregarding aboriginal peoples, and yet Canada has a history of racism. The Chinese entered Canada during different times and were greeted with different extremes depending on the social context at that point of time. The Chinese were welcomed during the gold rush in British Columbia as well as when needing labour to build the Canadian Pacific Railway. Then restrictive policies started to be placed such as the increasing tax and finally in 1923 the ban of any Chinese person from entering into Canada with few exceptions. This shift, as well be discussed, was a result of fear of the Chinese taking from the economy and that their presence will affect the white Anglo-Canadian population.…

On behalf of the Immigration and Citizenship Society of Canada, it is suffice to say that the Canadian government through the bills of C-51 and C-24 are ruining the prestigious reputation of Canada as a country who welcomes and takes care of refugees. Our target is the people of the government, and the use of boundary making due to these laws is wrong. Everyone deserves a change at life in Canada, and these legislations do the opposite of that. These bills need to either be revoked or severely altered in a way that not every immigrant in Canada with a citizenship is monitored as a possible terrorist. The immigrants of Canada are people who should be glorified for choosing this country and wishing to work, pay taxes and contribute…

Human Migration has long been recognized as an important means of redistributing labor to promote regional growth \citep{krieg1997occupational}. Each year a small fraction of the labor force moves between different provinces in Canada. Numerous studies focus on provincial mobility in Canada. However most of the studies are based on census data and estimation of provincial net migration rate to determine overall gain and loss of a province \citep{bernard2008interprovincial, chen2009inter, osberg1991unemployment} without identifying the characteristics of provincial movers; who moves and who stays behind. For example, when workers moving from Quebec to Ontario, are they above average workers or does Quebec lose better workers to Ontario or…

Although immigration to Canada is joyous for some, many immigrants risk a basic part of their culture when they decide to travel to Canada. To begin with, immigration to Canada makes individuals lose their cultural identity and nationality. When people immigrate at a young age, they quickly assimilate into the mainstream culture. Children and even adults no longer feel pride for their nationality, and instead steer away from their usual traditions. This leads to a loss of cultural practices and celebrations.…
