Although I did not immigrate to America like Choi’s parents, I agree that immigration should be open to all countries to give everyone an equal opportunity to prosper. America is known as the land of opportunity; to take away someone's opportunity because they are from a country where there terrorism exists is a disgrace. Not everyone from a country that has terrorism is a terrorist. Throughout my time working for the Equal Justice Initiative I have learned you can not judge people on their past without knowing their entire story. President Trump does not have the full story of everyone he has banned. Even though President Trump revised his original policy, it is still not enough. Still, citizens of Syria, Iran, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen, and Libya

Shortly after the 2016 election, President Trump signed an executive order on January 27 suspending refugee admissions from seven countries for 90 days. These countries included Iran, Iraq (which was later removed momentarily), Syria, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen. Immediately following the executive order, many district courts appealed the order for they felt it was unconstitutional. Recently, President Trump decided to repeal DACA or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival Program which was put into effect by former President Obama under an executive order. DACA resisted the deportation of illegal immigrants who entered the United States as children. President Trump justifies his decision because he believes that these “Dreamers” (term used for those under the protection of DACA) are a threat and burden on the United States economy. In addition, he states that the immigrants are taking all the jobs from the native-born American citizens. Moreover.…

The United States has welcomed only a small percentage of these migrants, and recent terror attacks has stirred fear of these refugees to the American people. Current political elections have focused heavily on Syrian refugees and some states have even gone as far as vocalizing their anti-refugee and anti-Muslim policies, refusing to allow refugees to settle in their borders.…

Did you know, since the year 2011 over 250,000 people have died in Syria due to the extremely dangerous conditions of the country? Americans should open their arms to these refugees and let them into our country. These people offer no threat to us, by turning them away, were encouraging the act of terrorism and it goes against our beliefs as Americans. One reason the people should let refugees in the country is that these people offer no harm to the citizens of America. There are a lot of people fleeing from their country because of the living conditions and how unsafe their home is.…

He also went on to say that this was his way of helping the Christian refugees because he felt that they had been treated horribly in the past. Contrary to Trump’s statement research shows since 2002 there has been more Christian admission than Muslim admissions within the United States. Several Christian leaders stated that they were not okay with receiving special treatment, and that this would result from Trump’s…

“I don’t know” I can still distinctly recall my eleven-year-old self repeatedly saying to anyone who tried to talk to me. It was my first day of school in America and that was the only sentence I could put together in English. I was born in China and lived there my whole life until my mother decided to move to New York. I thought I was just visiting her for winter break, but she dropped me off at school just a week after my arrival. As my new classmates tried to talk to me, I can see their mouth moving but they might as well be speaking gibberish.…
