People are escaping from a government which is not ruling in the interest of its own citizens. Immigrants are not just coming here because they want to, there is something going on in their country of origin. For example, they are fleeing because of religious wars or conflicts going on in their country. They want to practice their religion freely, or flee poverty, and make a better lives for themselves and their children. They also come here in order to pursue higher education.
