This cause Mexican immigrants to be judged harshly by the Americans. “The Americans lost a lot of economic gain by spending 100 million to fight a pointless war” ("The Encyclopedia of the Mexican-American War.") This means that after the war there is going to be a lot of things that the Americans have to do to get their country back together. The book Immigration by Jeff Hay helps shows how the immigrants treat by the Americans when the war broke out. According to the Americans, “Mexicans are becoming more and more useless due to the fact that they didn’t want to convert to their religion” (Hay,155-156). This shows that the Americans want their country to be more uniform where everyone is the same and equal in every way. “Mexicans didn’t have a say in the government system, meaning that they weren’t able to give their opinion on what they want and change” (Hay, 157-158).
