Actress Mae West said “I'll try anything once, twice if I like it, three times to make sure.” The springtime of 2011 my family and I were celebrating my grandma's birthday she chose to go to a seafood restaurant. My dad, my grandma, my aunt and I sat in the same booth while the rest of the family sat at a long table. The waitress gave us our menus while we were looking them over my grandma said she was going to get the popcorn gator as an appetizer. My cousin Tony overheard my grandma, and said grandma that does sound good. When the waitress came back around to take our order she had five or six orders for popcorn gator because everyone else overheard my cousin talking about the popcorn gator. I thought it was wrong to eat an animal that wasn't a pig, chicken, turkey, or cow and I also thought that alligators were poisonous.

I told him no thank you and I will wait for my food. He said come on try it, it isn’t gonna hurt you. I repeated myself and my father told me if you don't ever taste anything new how do you expect to expand your horizon. He gave me a tiny popcorn gator and I felt my heart pounding and my stomach flipping like I just knew that this piece of meat was going to make me sick and die. But I popped it in my mouth and began to chew, being 10 at the time I chewed the first two bites with a nasty gross look until I realized that the meat didn't taste bad, it actually tasted like chicken. My dad asked me did I want another piece I grabbed another one this time larger than the last. My grandma and aunt were staring at me smiling while I ate the second popcorn gator. I looked up and said what? They said nothing and kept eating the popcorn
