A Basic Infantry movement is the immediate action drill. We will discuss the basic strategy, movement and tactic of IAD’s. IAD’s are used by reconnaissance, infantry and any dismounted patrols in combat. Any patrol can make contact with the enemy at any time. Contact also can happen through ground contact, overhead aircraft, any air attack, or ambush. Contact may be a visual contact only when the patrol sees the enemy but the patrol is not detected. When this is the situation, the team leader can decide if he choses to make physical contact or not, basing his decision on the patrol's assigned mission and capability to successfully engage the potential target.
