In Shakespeare's “Romeo and Juliet” the two main characters are not really in love because they are immature, they are quiet about their love, and they are strangers.

Romeo and Juliet are not really in love because they are immature. In the text we see that Romeo is immature in relationships. On the way to the masquerade Benvolio says “..., but no sooner in betake him to his legs.” (1.4.32) then Romeo says back to him “A torch for me. Let wantons, light of heart, tickle the senseless rushes with their heels, …” (1.4.33-34). We see in this scene that Benvolio wants Romeo to go dance. Romeo does not want to go dancing, he is just at the party to stare at his beautiful Rosaline. Not much sooner than they enter, Romeo says to a servant, “ What

He totally rebounds from Rosaline and is falling for Juliet. We also see that Juliet is immature in relationships because she says “I will not fail; 'tis twenty years till then.” (2.2.171) We see in this excerpt that Juliet is dramatic which shows us that she is immature. She is ready to marry the first boy that comes along! She doesn't know who else is out there. She is young! She is only 13 and already looking to get married. Both Romeo and Juliet are immature, which tells us that they are not really in love.

Romeo and Juliet are not truly in love because they are quiet about their love. In the text Romeo says “ Tybalt, the reason that I have to love thee doth much excuse the appertaining rage to such a greeting. Villain am I none. Therefore, farewell. I see thou know’st me not.” (3.1.33-35) In this section Romeo

In the text we see that Romeo and Juliet first meet at a masquerade ball. Romeo says: “Th' exchange of thy love’s faithful vow for mine.” ( 2.2.127) He is basically saying that he will be happy if they plan to get married. We also know that Juliet is just as ready to get married! She says: “What o'clock tomorrow shall I send to thee?” In this excerpt, Juliet is arranging to send servants to Romeo so that they can work out the wedding details. As readers, we believe that they may only have known each other for only about 3-6 hours. This is an incredibly short amount of time to know someone and here they are deciding to get married in this short time period! This is important because they just met! How can you be in love with someone you just met? They barely know anything about the other person. They did not even know what family the other was from until right before the party ended! Because of this textual support we can come to the conclusion that Romeo and Juliet were not really in love at first sight, we think of it more as lust at first

With all of the things Romeo had said about Rosaline it suggests that he is feeling more lust than love. The only reason he even went to the party was to sulk over not being with her. But apparently all those feelings can just go away in an instant because the exact same thing happens with Juliet. Everything he had once felt went out the window with one look at a girl that he had for the first time made eye contact with. He then states “(Insert what Romeo said about Juliet)”…

Benjamin Franklin once said, “He that can have patience can have what he will.” In order for a person to get something he or she wants, he or she must be patient, and do what shall be done before chasing instant gratification. Instant gratification is the desire to experience pleasure or fulfillment without delay. It is, by definition, an urge to achieve something without the process of thinking it through or further analyzing the situation. Instant gratification leads to compulsive decision making, which comes with a higher risk of making the wrong choice.…

Over the span of three days, the two “star-crossed” lovers kiss, marry, and commit suicide for the sake of love. Mercutio is neither of Montague nor Capulet, but he is Romeo’s best friend. He serves as a comic relief throughout most of the production, though his death is a turning point in the events of this play.…

Thy purpose marriage, send me word tomorrow, […] And follow thee my lord throughout the world” (II. ii. 142_148). In this quote Juliet asks Romeo to marry her the next day and confirm it after asking Friar Lawrence. Another place where he shows his impulsiveness is when Juliet followed the idea of Friar Lawrence to take a drug to pretend her death. Balthasar, Romeo’s servant, unaware of the truth told him about Juliet’s Death. He drinks the poison too quickly after he sees Juliet’s corpse.…

Romeo and Juliet are both immature, as shown by their interpretation of their love. They believe that their first love is who they are meant to be with, and the fall in love far too quickly, in Act 1 Scene 4. This scene shows immaturity because both of them believe they are deeply in love, when they only had one moment together. Romeo is especially immature, in that he forgets Rosaline so quickly, and moves on without realising his mistake of falling in love to quickly. This immaturity leads to the proclaiming of their love for one another on the balcony, and eventually their hasty marriage, in Act 2 Scene 2 and Act 2 Scene 6.…

Juliet meets her star-crossed lover, Romeo Montague, at a party and later that day when he goes to see her she says “if that thy bent of love be honorable, thy purpose marriage, send me word tomorrow… and call my fortunes at thy foot I’ll lay and follow thee my lord throughout the word.” (II ii 143-144, 147-148) This shows Juliet as naïve because she has only known Romeo for a few hours and she wants to marry him. The Montauges and Capulets are enemies. Lastly, when the nurse goes to Romeo for the date and time of the wedding she warns Romeo “…if ye should lead her in a fool’s paradise, as they say, it were a very gross kind…

Infatuation and love are two vastly different types of affection that most people get confused between. It is likely to occur more so among a boy and a girl when they are young and inexperienced as opposed to when they’re grown and matured. Infatuation can easily be mistaken for love in many cases. In Romeo and Juliet infatuation is mistaken for love by the both of them, for what they had between them was not love due to the fact that they were not mature enough, love takes time to develop, and because it was based on physical attraction. Love deals with more than just looks.…
