Lying doesn’t show our real identity. For example,in the article,Brad Blanton:Honestly Tell The Truth,by Barbara Ballinger,Ballinger states that Brad said,”In many cases we lie to maintain an image. But that isn’t our real identity.”This shows that people aren’t really showing their real selves by lieing. As a result of not showing our real identity it can result in a relationship but not expressing who you really are. Additionally,in the article Blanton says,” I found that lying was pervasive in people’s personal and professional lives.”The reason for this that it

Lying is not ok because it hurts yourself. For instance,in the article,Rejecting All Lies:Immanuel Kant,by Sissela Bok,Bok states that Kant says,”For someone holding such a position to be called a liar was a mortal insult perhaps because even for legal action or duel to be proved a liar could lead to self-exile out of shame.”Lying destroys friend relationships or any other type.Lying can make you lose people’s trust.Secondly,in the article Kant said,”Even worse it harms the liar himself,by destroying his human dignity and making him more worthless even than a small thing.”This connects to my argument because you'll be worthless to people.Another effect itll have on you is nobody will have faith in what you say. What I mean by this is lying doesn’t hurt only others but it hurts yourself more. Lying is not justified most of the time. Some people may argue that lying saves people’s feelings. For example, they contend that if someone asks how they look you lie to them because you don’t want to hurt their feelings. That is an understandable concern, however why should you lie to them about how they look because other people will make fun of what she or he is wearing. In conclusion, lying is not ok unless it’s something serious.Lying is not ok because it doesn't show ourselves and lying can hurt someone. It's

Thus, lying is an action that cannot be morally permissible.…

But if you actually sit down and think, everyone lies several times a day sometimes without even knowing it because the lie was so small and meaningless. But in other occasions people lie to protect things they care for and about they are also willing to accept the consequences behind their lies and actions. Most people prefer the truth, but most people also do not like for people to ruin their day by telling them their honest opinion. A lie is only a lie if what they are telling you is false. Friedrich Nietzsche said in Morality as Anti-Nature “truth is confused with the effects of believing something to be true” (355). It can be argued that a lie is justified if the person telling the lie believes it to be the truth. Ericsson believes that lying is immoral, but everyone does it.…

    1. According to Ericsson, we all lie because we want to avoid confrontation, spare people’s feelings, and to get out of particular situations. To avoid confrontations, sometimes it is necessary to lie, for example, if you were talking about someone behind their back and they hear about it, you are going to deny that you ever talked bad about that person to avoid getting into an alteration. If someone is wearing an ugly outfit that they are real proud of, you are most likely going to lie to them by telling that someone that you love their outfit just to avoid hurting their feelings.…

In “The Ways We Lie” by Stephanie Ericsson she discusses and breaks down the activity of lying into different kinds of lies. Ericsson goes into great detail of about 10 of them, but there are many more. Some lies are for your peace of mind and maybe still bad for both parties, and some are for the better of someone else’s feelings. Ericsson believes that even if you feel you are perfect, nobody is and still tell lies no matter big or small, we do it and at times are unaware that it is considered a lie. Individuals nowadays get to a point where they are lying and don’t know whether to believe themselves or others.…
