Discrimination and racism is usual in American society but remains a silent code. When racism occurs, it affects the social standing of the other group by cutting their rights and freedoms to an equal access of opportunities, resources and capabilities as any other “white” American citizen.
Although many people want to silent it or even reject the existence of racism, it is a day-to-day problem. Furthermore, society, with its prejudices, is giving more preference for white people over others leading to more isolation and societal problems. The structural violence that the actions are arising can lead to rivalry and greater political, social and economic oppression.
Moreover, political wings tend to underplay the importance of this problem. On the one hand, the left of the political spectrum supports that racism is only a political problem. It is the expression of society’s hierarchy in which the dominant group maintain its economic and social power. On the other hand, the right wing do not want to show it as racism but as a racist act or behavior. Following this broad view, the Republican Party is classifying racism as isolated acts rejecting the idea of racism as pervasive in American society.
Nevertheless, the problem of racism in the United States has historic and rooted causes.
