Imagine Dragons Song Believer

Imagine Dragons song Believer is actually a really big story. The meaning of the song goes along with children and adults alike. In the song he talks a little bit about his childhood and taking control or becoming an adult. The song will have different meanings to everyone but it all has one overall meaning. Believer starts off with “First things first I'ma say all the words inside my head” (Imagine Dragons). I chose this verse because it is the very opening of the song and usually the opening has a lot of meaning to it. Next the song goes on to say “Second, don't you tell me what you think that I can be I'm the one at the sail, I'm the master of my sea, oh ooh The master of my sea, oh ooh”. (Imagine Dragons)I decided to use this verse

Women and men play different roles. Women are not only generalized as the weaker sex but they are also defined by their relationship to men. This is why to most people marriage is such a big deal; it gives the female a sense of entitlement and if she marries a man of high status, she too gains power. Men exploit the passive and deomesticity traits in women by stifling their voice and stripping them of their identities. If a woman is ambitious, or comes off to strong, she is deemed unattractive.…

Overall, Imagine Dragon’s lyrics of the song “Monster” focuses on struggling to fit in within society by sharing his experiences and internal conflict with the audience. Imagine Dragon wants to give a message to society saying that they cause problems for different people, who cannot fit in, by having such a low tolerance for uniqueness and treating them like monsters. His message relates to outcast, especially teens who feel pressured to follow such trends so they can feel belonged, and wanted. Therefore, as a teen myself, I understand the difficulty of staying true to myself and trying to fit in with everyone else. I hope that this song can meet their goal, and cause everyone to realize their faults.…

The lines “He spoke to me in the voice so sweet / I thought I heard the shuffle of angel’s feet” (14-15) allow the listener to imagine what the voice of God sounded like and just how majestic it must have been to feel as if Cash could hear angel’s feet. This gives the listener reason to believe this is a true message from God due to the descriptive imagery and word choice. Another reason these lines are so important is because of the first-person example that Cash gives. By using “I” in the song, the listener comes to believe that the singer had these events happen to them.…

This is especially important when it comes to writing a song, because it gives meaning to the words. This is Gospel contains many literary devices. Almost the whole song can be viewed allegorically, with both a literal and figurative meaning. Figurative language is evident in lines three and four, as it states “assembling their philosophies” and “pieces of broken memories.” One does not literally assemble a philosophy or have pieces of a broken memory, but this figurative language makes us think about what the character is going through.…

The media perceives Taylor Swift as nothing more than a clingy, manipulative, and crazy young woman who jumps from relationship to relationship. Being the lyrical genius she is, Swift created the song "Blank Space" in 2014 to defend her position with this preconceived notion. She uses many rhetorical devices to explain her position in this argument against the media.
