Kingsolver uses Allusion well from beginning to end to display the importance of family. An earlier example is when Taylor remember how her mother always told her she "was the best deal this side of the Jackson Purchase." She is referring to a historical event to describe how her mother felt towards her and how she feels about Turtle. Kingsolver also mentions Psycho, Paul McCartney, and National Geographic, but almost all are used to describe something about her friends or family. We see Allusion tie together Imagery, Symbolism, and all the others all while adding a family theme to the novel.
