The element of imagery in Bradbury’s story enhances our understanding of the events that unfold as it promotes an emotional relationship between the reader and the occurring events. Having an emotional relationship with the story allows the reader to become one with the story and to be more interactive as things occur. In doing so, the story becomes more relatable to the reader as they can imagine the environment with the many senses. For example, “The dog frothed at the mouth, lying at the door, sniffing, its eyes turned to fire.” This sentence shows the reader what the dog looks like, sounds like and it’s actions within the empty home.
