Imagery And Symbolism In Hawthorne's Young Goodman Brown

A God,a myth, a legend? Nathaniel Hawthorne has many didn’t types of imagery and themes in Young Goodman Brown. His symbolism is very strong and can represent many different things. He uses strong words and meaning. Symbolism such as the pink ribbon falling from the sky can represent many didn’t things and even places. Even the setting he uses is a strong form of symbolism. The woods representing evil, and his having his grandfather being portrayed as the devil. The staff having snakes on shows strong imagery and symbolism. The pink ribbon can mean anything, but in my eyes and thoughts it showed purity and evil. White being the color for purity and red representing evil. It creates themes and such, that aren’t told word by word. You have to connect dots and put things together to be able to see what Hawkthorne is trying to get across. You have to research and think about each little thing that happens. Every little detail sums up to something big, and all these are gonna be seen in different ways. Someone might view the pink ribbon as something besides Evil and purity. There are just so many was that you can view and assume the point the author was trying to get across. Hawkthorne did all this on purpose to make people think. It can get very confusing at times but when you get what’s going on you can finally understand what's trying to be betrayed, and what Hawkthorne is talking about it makes you feel good. It's almost like finding out a hidden message and you have to try to solve it. This is the only book that i've read that actually made me think about what happens and why, so yes Hawkthorne is a spectacular author that puts your mind to
