Im Pretty Analysis

In Jess Scott’s, I’m Pretty, she questions “what's the whole point of being pretty on the outside when you’re so ugly on the inside?” The perpetuation of horrid personalities has increased in our society. Over the past couple of years, our mindset has changed from everyone to me. Instead of asking ourselves what I do for that person, we ask ourselves what can that person do for me? Human beings have always been internally focused, but I attribute the intensification of personal awareness and attention to the rise in social media and how we spend the majority of our day styling our lives to seem more interesting than they are. Racism and prejudice are paragons of ugly behavior in today’s society. First racism and prejudice should not be confused; racism describes the “belief that a particular race is superior or inferior to another, and that a person’s social and moral traits are predetermined by his or her inborn biological characteristics”. (Racism) While prejudice describes a “preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience” (Prejudice). Those who are in the minority can be prejudice regarding another race however they cannot be racist, but those who are in the majority can be racist and prejudice.
